About John

Growing up in rural Oklahoma, John learned the value of hard work and self-reliance. He worked his way through college at a full-service gas station, and his interactions with Oklahomans there and elsewhere made him appreciate the values of the ordinary people who keep our state running: the farmers, the workers, the teachers, the students, the small-business owners.

In 2001, when he was 23 years old, John was elected to the Prague City Council. He served as councilman and then vice-mayor until 2004, when he and his wife, Missy, moved to Michigan.

Their time in Michigan was a true learning experience: they learned that while the rest of the country may be great, Oklahoma will always be their home. Almost a year to the day after they left Prague, John and Missy moved back to Lincoln County. They bought land in Agra and started a small farm there.

Now, John works at a software development company writing software for farm equipment. He and Missy raise dairy cattle, pigs, chickens and produce on their land. As someone who uses technology every day, John is very much in touch with the future. As a farmer and life-long Oklahoman, he is also grounded in the heritage of our past.
